DESCRIPTION:XCO racing is back for the 24/25 season. In preparation for the two National Series XC rounds being hosted at Tolosa on the 2025 Australia Day long weekend\, we have an opportunity for you to test out one of the courses and enjoy some of the best ups and downs that Glenorchy Mountain Bike Park has to offer. \nOnline Entries Please \nTIME & DATE Sunday 3 November Registration open from 9am Race starts at 10am \nVENUE: Glenorchy MTB Park\, Tolosa St\nVenue Details: The event is being held on the awesome trails at Glenorchy MTB Park. Car parking is available in the public car park at the trail head at the end of Tolosa Road. The event start/finish and registration is located approximately 100m from the car park. \nENTRY CATEGORIES Adults: Male\, Female Elite\, Expert\, Masters 1-2\, 3-4\, 5-6\, 7-8\, Sport Juniors: Male\, Female U11\, U13\, U15\, U17\, U19 \nThe sport category is intended for those aged U19 and older that are beginning or consolidating XC racing. The sport course will be shorter & easier than the full course. Give it a bash! \nAll junior riders are required to have a parent or guardian attend the event with them. \nCOURSE & LAPS The main course be a 6km XCO course\, with a solid amount of climbing & will probably include some technical features. The exact course details will be provided closer to the event. \nU15\, U13\, U11 and Sport Categories will complete a shorter course\, with reduced climbing & less technical features – it will be largely green with a handful of blue. \nFinal laps per age group will be determined closer to event depending upon track conditions. DESCRIPTION:History of The Monster\nThe Meehan Monster has quite the reputation for being a cute little friend in the Meehan Range… The only problem is\, once a year in late spring it comes out with a hunger for unsuspecting victims’ legs. Many people got a taste for the fearsomeness of the Monster – one competitor left mid-race\, preferring to paint the house than to keep feeding the monster with his hairy legs. The Monster is still hungry\, will it ever end? He’s so hungry\, he is\, again\, eager to chew on the batteries of willing E-bikers. \n\nOverview\nThe RIDE Bellerive Meehan Monster is a XCM race held in the Meehan Range\, Clarence Tasmania. The event will be hosted by The Hobart Wheelers Dirt Devils CC. 2024 T-shirt will be included in your entry fee! There are several race options to suit all: \n\nTHE MAIN COURSE\nSolo: 1\, 2 or 3 laps Team: 3 laps (1 lap each) \nEach lap is approx. 25km with 750m climbing!!! The course consists of around 90% single track\, much of which is has been hand built over many years. The course will be similar to the original with a few modern twists added to keep the Monster happy. With the Monster’s new hunger for batteries\, we are now open for E-Bike entries! \nIf you don’t think you’re up for more than one lap\, then team up for a team multi lap relay! \n\nTime\n\nRegistration from 8.00am\nThe Main Course from 9.00am\n\nFood and coffee vendors will be onsite for refreshments all event. \n\nVenue:\nClarence Mtb Park\, Meehan Range \nOur Race Village will be set up in the heart of the Clarence MTB Park. From there riders will set out on the best mix of single track and fire road the Meehan Range has to offer. \nMarshal Points and feed stations will be available on course. \n\nBikes\, Equipment and Supplies:\nPlease be sure your bike is in great nick\, with working front and rear brakes\, no play in the bearings and plugged bar ends. Mountain bike riding can be dangerous and we need everyone to wear a helmet and gloves as per Auscycling technical regulations. \nRiders must be self-sufficient with food and water. There will be feed two feed zones on each lap but please do not rely on these to be your only source of nutrition. \nE-Bikes are more than welcome (beware the monster loves to eat batteries). You will be restricted to 1 battery for 1-2 laps and 2 batteries for 3 laps. Batteries may only be changed in the Tech zone at the start/ finish. \nRiders must be self-sufficient in the way of spares. Mechanical assistance from a non-competitor will only be allowed in the feed/ tech zones. SUMMARY:2024 Cyclocross Round 4 and State Championships
DESCRIPTION:The AusCycling Tasmanian State CX Champs doubles as the final race of the HWDD CX series 2024 \nParticipation is still the main aim here. If you have ridden any of the series – or were thinking of it – make sure you enter this one! \nYou are eligible for a State Title & Podium position whether on a CX/Gravel bike or MTB bike (but please ride your cross/gravel bike if you own one in the spirit of cross) \nUCI restrictions on tyre widths do not apply in this race. \nThere’s a RideNation come & try pre-ride\, then a race and followed by spot prizes\, cake and chatting. AND STATE CHAMP MEDALS \n\nOnline Entries Only: No entries will be accepted on the day\n\n\nRACE DETAILS:\nCyclocross (CX) Racing involves multiple laps of a short\, non-technical\, mixed terrain circuit. Racing will be the “mini – enduro” format with whoever completes the most laps in 45 minutes being declared the winner. CX is less technical than traditional Cross-Country MTB Racing and has the addition of sections of track where participants need to dismount and run with their bikes. \nBikes:\nAll types of bike (and rider) are welcome to get involved and get rad! (as long as they have 2 working brakes\, and bar plugs in the handlebars). Practice session on Saturday 9 December (afternoon); free camping available on Saturday night. \n\nOnline Entries Only: No entries will be accepted on the day\n\nTIME Competition will be held on Sunday 10 December. Registration open from 9am Start times will be determined closer to the event dependent on entry numbers\, with the expectation of two start times – 10am and 12 noon\, with a race briefing 15 minutes prior to the scheduled race start. Presentation ceremonies will take place at approximately 2pm. \nVENUE: Kellevie MTB Park\nVenue Details: The event is being held on private property at Kellevie. The location of the entry gate is 509 Kellevie Road\, just opposite the Kellevie Recreation Ground\, where there is water and a public toilet (location map shown below). The race village\, including the start/finish and plenty of car parking\, is about 2km from the entry gate. \nVenue Access and Camping: Access to the venue will be open for competitors from 11am on Saturday until the completion of presentations on Sunday 10 December. Participants are welcome to camp at the race village on Saturday 9 December\, utilising their own camping equipment and catering. \nCOURSE The track will link together a number of favourite trails from the many events that have been held at Kellevie over the years\, which include both hand-crafted single track and few wider trails to allow for passing. The likely lap length is 5.7km with 107m total elevation gain. \nFACILITIES Toilets: Portaloos will be available at the race village. Additional public toilets are available at the Kellevie Recreation Ground\, opposite the entry to the Kellevie property. There are several race options to suit all: \n\nTHE MAIN COURSE\nSolo: 1\, 2 or 3 laps Team: 3 laps (1 lap each) \nEach lap is approx. 25km with 750m climbing!!! The course consists of around 90% single track\, much of which is has been hand built over many years. The course will be similar to the original with a few modern twists added to keep the Monster happy. With the Monster’s new hunger for batteries\, we are now open for E-Bike entries! \nIf you don’t think you’re up for more than one lap\, then team up for a team multi lap relay! \n\nTime\n\nRegistration from 8.00am\nThe Main Course from 9.00am\n\nFood and coffee vendors will be onsite for refreshments all event. \n\nVenue:\nClarence Mtb Park\, Meehan Range \nOur Race Village will be set up in the heart of the Clarence MTB Park. From there riders will set out on the best mix of single track and fire road the Meehan Range has to offer. \nMarshal Points and feed stations will be available on course. \n\nBikes\, Equipment and Supplies:\nPlease be sure your bike is in great nick\, with working front and rear brakes\, no play in the bearings and plugged bar ends. DESCRIPTION:  \n\n\nWhen: Saturday 4th November 2023\nWhere: Cygnet\nWhat: Mass Start graded.\n\nWe’re excited to bring you the classic ‘Hell of the South’ road race \n\nCOURSE DETAILS:\nU/9 – U13 – Do not enter this race – please enter the separate listing for the Cygnet Cycling Festival. \nU/15 – one lap of the ‘Big Lap; described below (32km). \nU/17 – Will ride in the full course with the seniors. \nSeniors course 2 major climbs\, 16km of gravel and one fast finish! The route takes you out Cygnet\, up the first 3.7km climb with a gentle average gradient of 2.9%. Don’t let the average gradient fool you\, in a race setting\, this climb is perfect for an early attack. \nRiders will enjoy a brief and quick descent before turning left onto a closed Cygnet Coast rd. In the middle of this ‘big lap’\, is an 8km gravel section where your bike handling abilities will be put to the test. If you’re in a big group\, you’ll want to be switched on. \nOnce back in Cygnet\, riders will begin the second ‘small loop’\, taking a left hand turn up Wattle Grove rd. It started as winter road racing in Northern Europe many decades ago. \nRaces are held over short courses with racers avoiding obstacles (which may require dismounting)\, riding on grass\, gravel\, step hills and more. It’s a muddy\, fun experience for all ages of riders. \n\nOnline Entries Only: No entries will be accepted on the day\n\n\nRACE DETAILS:\nCyclocross (CX) Racing involve multiple laps of a short\, non technical\, mixed terrain circuit. Racing will be the “mini – enduro” format with who ever completes the most laps in 45 minutes being declared the winner. Where CX differs from traditional Cross Country Racing is the addition of barriers\, run ups and other sections of track where participants need to dismount and run with their bikes. \nBikes:\nAll types of bike (and rider) are welcome to get involved\, and get rad! The trail is pretty much all green\, so youngsters and those new to mountain biking are very much encouraged. \nKeen to keep it cruisy? We will have a 30 minute slot for you to complete one or two laps at your own speed (untimed) – start time 5.30pm \nBuilt for speed? Take 45 minutes to complete as many laps as you can smash out (and we’ll have the full timing rig to see just how fast you can go) – start time 6.30pm \nTime \n\nRegistration from 5pm\nCruising session starts 5.30pm\, finish soon after 6pm\nSpeedster session starts 6.30pm\, finish soon after 7.15pm\n\nA FREE BBQ to celebrate the end of the summer/twilight series – food\, goodies and refreshments to enjoy afterwards with family and fellow riders. \nVenue: Top of The Domain \nThe track will start and finish near the very top of the Domain\, just below the Queens Domain Upper Summit Carpark.  There is plenty of parking\, picnic tables\, a couple of BBQs and space for a picnic rug so you can lie back and watch the action roll by. \nBikes and Equipment: \nPlease be sure your bike is in great nick\, with working brakes\, no play in the bearings and plugged bar ends. Mountain bike riding can be dangerous and we need everyone to wear a helmet and gloves. \nEntry Categories: \nFor the twilight series we are looking to keep things super simple – just choose either the Cruiser or Speedster event and select your correct age category.  For the speedsters\, we’ll provide results showing your splits and competitor ages (so you can choose who you wish to compare yourself to!). \nAll junior riders are required to have a parent or guardian attend the event with them. \nOnline Entries Only: No entries will be accepted on the day \nCost and Registration \nCruisers – $10\nSpeedsters – $15 \nTo register and participate in this event\, riders must hold a valid AusCycling Membership at the time of registering. Please note: Membership must be valid on the date of the event for which you are registering. DESCRIPTION:XC Time Trial @ Coningham  \nDetails \nDate \nSun\, 19 March 2023 \nEntries open \nMon\, 20 February 2023 10:00 AM AEDT \nEntries close \nSat\, 18 March 2023 8:00 PM AEDT \nPay online by \nSat\, 18 March 2023 8:00 PM AEDT \nABOUT \nFor something different\, we are hosting a time trial event to provide riders with a great excuse to experience the amazing hand-built trails at Coningham\, with thanks to the solid support of the Coningham Mountain Bike Club members who are helping us with this event. \nFor anyone who hasn’t been there\, you’ll be in for a treat where you get to ride a wide range of trail styles – tight and twisty through trees (and a couple of super-tricky log rides)\, swooping sandy trails through ferns\, techy rocky drops\, a rather long twisty climb where every corner seems to be off camber\, and a serious bombing run down the One Arm Bandit. Best suited to someone who can ride every trail type that isn’t a machine-built flow trail\, climb with grace and descend with a grin – sound like you??? \nThis will be a time trial event around a single loop of the Coningham Reserve (link to the intended trail is below)\, with each rider heading off at regular intervals over a 1 – 1.5 hour period (start times to be advised the day before the race).  The course is around 12km but don’t be fooled into thinking you can do this in 30 minutes at an average speed of 25km/h – with almost 500m of climbing and too many switch backs to count\, it will take a little longer than that. \nGiven the expected duration of the event (around an hour for the elite amongst us\, somewhere between one and two hours for the rest)\, the event is only open for categories U17 and above. \n\nOnline Entries Only: No entries will be accepted on the day\n\nVenue: Coningham Nature Recreation Area \nThe race will start and finish close to the Coningham Main Beach car park just off Coningham Road\, where there are public toilets\, a few tables and some cool water for a refreshing dip after the race. \nThe track will link together a number of blue and green trails along the foothills of the reserve\, then wind its way up close to the summit and then descend back down to the start/finish line. \nhttps://strava.app.link/0hXakzhvuxb \nBikes and equipment: \nPlease be sure your bike is in great nick\, with working brakes\, no play in the bearings and plugged bar ends.
